Dr. Kevin Tokoph Discusses Knee Pain on KOIN’s Move It Monday

Dr. Kevin Tokoph, PT, DPT, was featured on KOIN’s Move It Monday, discussing arthritis and knee pain. About 50% of adults will develop knee osteoarthritis in at least one knee in their lifetime. When patients come into the physical therapy clinic for knee arthritis, Dr. Tokoph notices the rest of the muscles in their legs are weak, which provides a lack of support for the cartilage in the knee. When performing a simple activity like gardening, Dr. Tokoph says you must warm up the entire leg before engaging in any movement.

Dr. Tokoph showcases three exercises anyone can perform while sitting watching TV or working at a desk to help strengthen those muscles and naturally grease their joints, making their movements smoother and less painful.

  1. Seated Leg Extensions
  1. Standing Hamstring Curl
  1. Squat with Butt Tap
